Vocalist, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, David Stewart Jr., is the first recipient of the premiere Berklee Lollapalooza Endowed Scholarship, a four-year, full tuition award.

After an exhaustive search process that included auditions in 20 cities across the U.S., Berklee chose David, who plays drums, piano and guitar, in addition to his live performance choice, the electric bass, to receive this full tuition Berklee Lollapalooza recognition. The selection committee chose Stewart based on his outstanding musicianship. In the spirit of Lollapalooza, the college aimed to find not only an exceptional talent, but also a musician with charisma, energy, and a strong interest in rock music who aspires to a performance career.

David Stewart Jr. is originally from Lima, Peru, but moved with his family to Pompano Beach, Florida when he was 5 years old.  Now nineteen, he is a National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts’ YoungArts program winner in pop vocal performance and theater, recipient of Florida’s statewide Cappie Award for Musical Theater and was a finalist to enter television’s top-rated program, The Voice, an opportunity that David decided to forgo in order to dedicate himself fully to his first year at Berklee.

David is not only ambitious with his artistry, but is also focused on his career, aligning himself with experienced mentors and management.  He has recently signed to BMI, who’s team is enthusiastically supporting him and he has formed his Boston-based David Stewart Jr. rock trio with fellow Berklee students, British guitarist and arranger, Ed Graves and Mexican drummer and vocalist, Salvador ‘Chava’ Ilizaliturri.

Recent works include work with multiple Boston based agents and organizations, including Boston’s “Full Scene Ahead”, “Boston Rocks”, and “BE College Booking”. David Stewart Jr appeared for the first time on HBO on January 20th, 2014 as a featured singer songwriter in the “Masterclass” with Josh Groban and will be recording a new single in the Red Bull NYC Recording Studio as an invited artist in March.
